Seeing a Healer?

Kill and I had a great experience in Sedona and an interesting time in Las Vegas. We flew to Vegas because it's so cheap and then we drove to Sedona, which is a peaceful place much like Nelson, B.C. There were vegan restaurants, nice hikes and a lovely healer named Mary. Mary was diagnosed with a spider-like growth in her brain 27 years ago and was told that she had 20 year maximum of life however, she's still alive and well. She's beautiful and calm. I think that when I met her, like many free spirits, she was going braless but I'll admit that she was pulling it off :).

Healing, reiki, massage, acupuncture and so many treatments, I think, are meaningful because of the care that a person wants to give to you. What I found after visiting Mary, was that I had visualisations for how to think about healing myself. I had a thought of pulling out a black, flat and hose-like substance from my chest. It was similar to linguini and I'd just pull it out gleefully, sometimes getting help from my grandpa Reg when the going got tough. Then I'd hand him the hoses/noodles and he'd get rid of them for me. We had a good time, in my mind, and it was kind of like playing.

Now, I don't know how human minds work and I don't know what we're capable of, but I always think that these positive actions or thoughts do us no harm. I'm pulling out noodles with grandpa every day now and it's pretty fun. I clear my mind several times, as other thoughts creep in, and when I'm done with all of my body I feel calm and happy. So, I think healers can be teachers and that's a nice thing. Also, none of the people who heal me charge very much or any money at all and that's another thing that makes me feel like this is what love looks like and isn't a scam.

Love,
Cailey

p.s. Kill and I each lost 5$ on slots and we were horrified. We could have bought soup and Arnold Palmie's (lemonade and iced tea) at Whole Foods for that!
p.p.s. I had a EKG today but I saved the stickers :). They don't actually go on your face during the EKG, they go on your chest and your legs.

Exercising - foolishly?

Every person that knows I'm sick has told me to "stay active". Although it can be annoying advice, I do agree with them because bodies work better when they can move. Last Friday, I went to a pool and I swam laps in the slow lane. I zig-zagged around for about 20 minutes, rather gently, I thought. However, for the last 4 days my right chest muscles have been so unhappy. The problem with vague advice like "stay active" is that I have no clue about the parameters.

Is working out more aggressively and longer better? Should I stay flexible? Should I do martial arts to get out my aggression or perhaps body building? This too is trial and error, just like most things in life. Here's what I know so far:

  • Wrestling or sports where you get tossed around like a rag doll aren't ideal if you have weak bones (in my case due to cancer).
  • Intense running can be a bit hard too. Running on grass is better than concrete (it's sad that this wasn't obvious to me).
  • Cycling is lovely and low impact. Plus you can watch HGTV if you're at a gym.
  • Walking is good, especially with a buddy.
  • Light free weights can give some aesthetic definition to an illness ravaged body.
  • Swimming and yoga are good but go about half as hard as you think you should (it would seem that concept is lost on me). If you do stay flexible and your back goes out you can use your feet to find clothes and dress yourself. I'm so grateful that this happened to me because I was not found both nude and immobilized.
  • Congratulate yourself and try not to feel sad if you can't do what you once did or what other, hotter,  people are doing. I tell myself that I'm going to age more attractive than I was. Just watch it's real :).
In times where you're body wasn't it's strongest what exercise did you choose? What has been effective?
Although you guys aren't the most enthusiastic commentators so far, I will wear you down!
