I was reminded this weekend that humans compare themselves to their peers pretty often, even me. An acquaintance with chronic pain told me that she says to herself: "well, at least I don't have blank illness". Okay, hers was actually cancer and then she specified that it was brain cancer. I think that she had a brain fart because you shouldn't tell someone with a disease that theirs is the worst thing you can think of having. Secretly, mine is tuberculosis but if you're reading this and you have TB then don't be discouraged. People live and it could be us!I was at a Mexican restaurant with my favorite pharmacist friend, who said that many cancers now are long term chronic illnesses. Now, that's what I'm talking about! I want to tell my oncologist that I'll be his patient as long as he's practicing and I'm working up the gumption to do just that.
