Radiation part IV and Recipe Thursday!

Two weeks after radiation the side effects of this treatment are: that you'll have a small pain spike if the tumour is in a tender spot and my skin got a little red. I also got some little pimples on the radiation site but I didn't know they were there until Kill mentioned it. He took a picture of my back and you can't see a darn thing so obviously, it's not that bad.

On another topic, I tried on those vintage wedding dresses and those ladies were petite! I find now that I've shrunk 2 inches from my back breaks that my torso is incredibly short but my legs are still like 5'6" legs. It sounds cute doesn't it? It sort of is except that all dresses are too long in the torso which is why I may have to switch to empire waist clothing :). There's always a solution.

Recipe time, I've been cooking my brains out and we have four choices today: Vegan blueberry muffins, vegan baked beans, vegan brown bread with rosemary and mustard or vegan peach pie. Hard to choose right? How about we do vegan brown bread today and then vegan peach pie tomorrow in honour of Canadian Thanksgiving?

Vegan Brown bread with Rosemary and Mustard (serves 2-6)

This lonely piece is all that's left
after we stuffed our faces last night
1 1/3 cups warm water
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
4 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp rosemary (diced if fresh or crushed if dry)
1 tsp prepared mustard (mine was mango flavoured :))

Mix the warm water, sugar, yeast, oil and 2 cups flour in a bowl and leave it for 30 minutes with a cloth draped over (but not touching) the mix. Once doubled in size, mix in remaining flour and leave to double again with that cloth draped over it (30 min-1 hour). When it's bigger still, put the dough in an oiled bread tin and let it rise again with a cloth over it in a warm place (1 hour). Sprinkle the rosemary over and using a spoon spread the mustard over the top of the bread dough then pop it in the oven  for 35 minutes at 350 degrees Fahenheit. Take it out and let Kill munch to his heart's content :).

* I'm not so clever so I just mucked around with the recipe from this website: http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/1594/gran-s-white-loaf.aspx

Hmm...empire waist lines. I just had to look that up!

"Very light and loose dresses, usually white and often with shockingly bare arms, rose sheer from the ankle to just below the bodice, where there was a strongly emphasized thin hem or tie round the body, often in a different color." (circa: 1811)

I love that! "shockingly bare arms" and who can resist the word "bodice"?

It sounds perfect!
